"Being Embodied & Feeling Safe"
ABOUT
WHAT CLIENTS' SAY
WHAT IS BCST ?
BIODYNAMIC CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY
The experience of BCST is one of mostly relaxation & deep calm. It is done fully clothed, while lying on a treatment bed cosy under a blanket.
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle non-manipulative, light-touch bodywork modality that works on the Cranium, the Spine & the Sacrum area. It is a subtle, yet profound method for enhancing the function of the nervous system and returning balance and mobility to the entire body.
This safe and supportive process can allow for the release of deep-seated trauma and emotions held within the body, and supports in re-connecting with and expressing who we are at the deepest level.
This in turn leads to a greater sense of wholeness, clarity and well being.

"The single most important issue for traumatised people is to find a sense of safety in their own bodies. If you are not sending trauma patients for Craniosacral Therapy, you should" - Bessel Van Der Kolk MD - author of The Body Keeps the Score

INTRA-ORAL BCST OR "MOUTH-WORK"
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy for Jaw, Mouth & Neck Support

The safe, non-manipulative, gentle & light-touch contacts made inside the mouth, also known as BCST "Mouth-work" can be very effective in supporting clients to slowly restore their SENSE of SAFETY & SELF in the world if they have experienced trauma (emotional or physical), as the jaw is the centre of our "Social Engagement System" where we get to fully embody our human "Face, Voice & Heart Connection". The individuals “Vocal Clarity” can have an opportunity to be re-established.

Mouth-work has been known to support clients who experience TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint disfunction), Jaw Clenching, Chronic Neck Pain or Migraine. Once again, this is supposed to be a slow & gently un-winding process, and will most likely require a series of BCST sessions.
There is also a strong correlation between the Jaw & Pelvis, so applying BCST to the Jaw and inside the Mouth, may be effective in easing trauma memory held in the Hips, Pelvis & Pelvic Floor.
More About Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy & Trauma Release
Traumatic stress, the reaction to a life-threatening event, arouses the nervous system to the extreme and activates three survival reflexes : FREEZE, FIGHT and FLIGHT.
If the trauma is not processed, then the unprocessed fear gets locked into our bodies - into our tissues. The holding of stress and trauma in our tissues can express itself in a multitude of symptoms including anxiety, pain and dissociation. In an attempt to separate ourselves from the pain and the implicit memory of the trauma, we dissociate to some degree from our body, losing our sense of self.
The body remembers what has happened, but not the mind. These memories must be accessed through the body with gentle body-centred therapies, such as Craniosacral work.
Craniosacral work is very effective in releasing the "issues in the tissues" because its foundation is based on presence and deep listening, and the experience of a session, is one of "safety"
Supporting the client to stay present to their physical body sensations during the sessions not only facilitates safety and releases implicit memories, but also helps the client to reintegrate their dissociated parts.
